How To Design A Perennial Garden

Perennials are a constant but ever-changing presence in the garden and it is the gardener's challenge to combine herbaceous perennial plants into a living collage. Learn the "checkerboard theory" of design and how to use strong plant shapes to create an effective four-season garden with perennials. Using slides that illustrate the best uses of perennials in a landscape, we will explore all the aspects of a multitude of plants and discover what gives each its special landscape value based upon size, texture, color, and flowering season. Deer resistant perennials will also be discussed. Poliana Danila has a degree in Horticulture, Landscape Design, and Education and is a landscape designer with Poundridge Nurseries, in Pound Ridge, New York. She has international experience in horticulture and landscape design working in New York, Connecticut, Romania, and Holland.
